my '89 maxima has problems mainly on cooler or rainy weather . it runs fine 99% of the days in the summer. if you start car and dont let it get really warm then it acts up. but if you stop and put it in park for a minute or two itfixes itself. if you turn the car off then usually it comes back again. i want to get this fixed before the bad weather sets in . it just started to act up the other day. oh ya i tried additives to remove moisture from the fuel it didnt help.

runs fine once warmed up eh? classic older max. grab the harness around the timing cover. it goes down to the coolant temp sensor. shake that sucker. it is prob loose/corroded. a new sensor and pigtail harness would fix that if its the case.

possiblly, i have seen a few pumps make noise due to a bad pressure regulator(older maximas). you could check the pressure.
