89 KA24E sat in garage for a year, wont start

Project car has been sitting for over a year in the garage. It ran when it went in.

Tried starting it today and it turns over but will not fire up. Seems to be getting fuel since I can smell it from the exhaust but no spark. All the ignition seems to be connected, installed new cap and wires.

I do have a volt meter. Can I check the distributor and coil without messing up the engine?

Sounds to me like ur coil might be bad because if ur distributor was bad obviuosly u wouldnt have injector pulse so engine wouldnt be getting any gas, try taking ur voltmeter and check for voltage at the coil, if u have power then it could be the coil or ignitor, unfortunately there is no official way to check either one.
