89 hb willnot rev past 3000 rpms

i just recenlty replacd the engine in my 89 hb its the z24i fuel injected. it starts and runs fine it just will not rev past 3000 rpms i changed the mass air flow and adjusted the tps and this did not help. so any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Even if you hold the throttle open by hand it peaks before 3k?

Sounds like a bad ground to the MAF or the pug to the MAF is corroded. This is the only reason it will not rev past 3k for just about any nissan or MAF based cars. Although being a z24 engine it could as well be ignition related since its a dual coil ignition setup. Make sure you ohm your coils and see that they're within spec. peace.
