ok so i have a '89 coupe as u already know at this point. well my dad bought the car from his friend, who's mom was the OG owner. well the thing had a amp and crap in the car, but the dudes father yanked it out (literally without really UNDOING the equipment). well now that we have it the dash lights RARELY come on almost once a year, but the speedo nor the HUD works AT ALL, and also the stereo goes of one in a blue moon (almost about 3 or no times a year). with that in mind. i have searched alot about this crap and my parents strongly believe it's the wiring. but i was thinking maybe i should try replacing the capacitor (for the speedo). but i dunno what to really do with the lights in the dash and the HUD.

so is there anyway to fix the HUD and lights without replacing them?

Get yourself the service manual and start stracing power supplies anfgrounds. I can bet that when the old stereo was yanked, the supply wire for the dash lights was frayed badly.

i agree with hijacker.. should probably trace back the wires with a volt meter and check the harnesses and replace any that are damaged. the junkyard is the best way to go for those types of things. my coupe has the same rear spoiler.. is that stock for the coupe?

Forget the chiltons. Those things are moderately acceptible for brake jobs. Get a real Service Manual http://www.240edge.com/manuals/s13-ka24e.html You'll wonder why you never downloaded this before
