89 automatic climate control

Hey guys I have an 89 300zx non turbo with the digital automatic climate control unit. It looks backlit when car is on but nothing is displayed anywhere and the buttons don't work to turn anything on. so i have no heat/no control. I checked related fuses, all good. wires all seem plugged in to back of control unit.

Anyone ever deal with this or have any suggestions?

Push the "manual" button at the top of the unit. What does that do?

I'd take a loog at a wirign diagram and find otu which wires leading to the unit are power and gorund and then verify that you have power and ground at the unit, if you hae power and ground and it still won't power up I suspect you have a bad unit, if it does power up, here is the test procedure
