Ok so this is my first time asking for help I can usually find the answers I'm looking for on the forum but I've searched all over an found no answers. I have an 89 240sx s13 5spd hatchback. I rear ended some one pushing in my driverside headlight back into the car. I had to replace a vapor canister and the radiatior and the car was starting fine and i actually drove it a couple days.. but then i tried straightening the metal to replace the headlight using a sledgehammer (probably not the best idea) and accidentally hit a fuze box located right behind where the headlight goes but didn't smash it just cracked the cover. When I was done straightening the metal I tried to start it but all I got was a little clicking near the battery( relay switch?) at first. Then it stopped that clicking altogether and now just clicks once when i turn the key up near where I hit the fuze box. I can pop the clutch and get the car started and runs fine nothing wrong with the battery or the alternator. I got the starter tested and passed 3 times. Hellllp pleeeease!!

You crushed something in there, likely something specifically responsible for the starter initiation since it runs if you bump start it. What relays are listed on the cover?

ACC/Diff. Oil--ASCD HOLD/RR FOG--AIR COND.--FR FOG-HORN--H/L RET DOWN--H/L RET--H/L RET... The other fuzebox under the hood has more including; IGN COIL/FL 30A ANTI SKID--EGI--EGI PUMP--H/L RET CONT--N&P- etc.. and I should also add that someone took a look and thinks my water pump is leaking not sure if it matters for it to start

Check fuses first at KOEO (key on engine off) for power on all of them with a test light.

Switch out the N&P relay: that works in junction with the starter solenoid to engage it. Try starting it.

If no start/still clicks, check the wire to see if its still connected on the starter solenoid.

If no start still, run a wire directly from the battery (positive side) to the solenoid and that will tell you if the starter is going bad. If it clicks, starter is going bad.

If it cranks, the wiring from the ignition switch (where you turn the key to crank) to the solenoid has a split/disconnected wire. Check your plug connectors near the engine fuse box. FYI, I also have a KA24E (hopefully same as yours aha) and the wiring to the solenoid went bad. Its a black with yellow stripe on it.

All right i know its been a while but i finally am posting what it was. Jus the starter relay lol took off the old one and rattled when i shook it got a new one for $15 bucks at autozone and it started right up :) thanks alot for ur help.. but i have hit another bump in the road. It started and ran fine for bout a week burning gas pretty rich. Then i took it to aa friends garage to straighten the metal in that same headlight area got that all fixed and went to start the car... it sounded like a lawn mower idling really low an shakin quite a bit. Lowest idle it was holding was 400 rpms before it died. It would still run if i gave it gas but once i let off dead it went. So i got the car home after 30 minutes of tedious breaking clutching an givin it gas all at the same time whilst stopping at and sometimes blowing stop signs. Now it wont start it just cranks and sounds like it not quite getting something like air intake or fuel. If it would help i can put a video on youtube of it and post a link for you to hear it

Do u have access to a fuel pressure gauge? If not look on the fuel rail for the test port and see if u have pressure right after you turn the key on. Or take the gas cap off and listen in the neck for the pump running.

Yea i checked to see if thefuel pump was working by disconnecting the engine sid.e of my fuel filter then switching the key on and off real quick. It pumped gas but not sure if its got enough pressure. I plan on renting a pressure gauge tomorrow and checking the spark plugs too cuz i think i mightve flooded it. . Idk tho jus gotta keep tryin things

The starter relay is mounted right by your battery on the inside of the fender. Its easily visible. It should be blue and have two plugs goin into it. Its like 10-20 bucks at autozone
