89 240SX WONT PASS SMOG

I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. I HAVE REPLACED THE CAT, O2 SENSOR, PLUGS, WIRE. INJECTORS ARE WORKING FINE. IT FAILS DUE TO HIGH C0. THEY START TO GO DOWN. THEN CLIMB BACK UP. ANY SUGGESTIONS. THX

If you keep throwing all these parts at it, you may end up spending a lot of money you didn't need to. Were you told to go to a test only or is it possible for you to go to a test and repair? Even if you wanted to install part at fault, it probably would cost more than about a hundred bucks to have a smog tech diag the problem for you. I went through training and when we had the cars on the dyno with the wand in them, we could also use an oscilloscope to narrow it down.

High CO= Rich condition, CO is partially burned fuelCauses-High fuel pressure-Leaky injectors-fualty temp sensor-thermostat stuck open-clogged air filter-charcoal canister full, fuel to topped off, faulty purge solinoid-Fuel in the crankcase

you should do the basic like compression test to see if your motor is in good condition

oh yeah state of CA will help you pass your vehicle if you are eligible for their smog program. fail a test fill out a form and i think they'll fix up to $500 and if your car is test only designated then your automatically eligible just pay the first $100. they will tell you to take it to a gold shield station

i think thats how it is took smog/bar class last summer and can't remember it all but you should look into it

in some cases in CA it may be nessesary to "Donate" some cash to the testing station attendant to "ease" the passing of this great classic icon of the motor age..i sugest "Donating" $100. or more of your hard earned bucks to say his kids "education" fund..if one guy wont accept "Donations in this harsh economy..onother will gladly....
