89 240sx with wirin issues.. need help.

I have a '89 240sx that I bought from a friend. It has the heads up display problem.. problem being that it doesn't work. The fuel gauge and all the indicator lights work but the odometer only comes on after I drive for about 45 min. but not consistantly, if it is going to come on it will be after at least 45 min. but sometimes it never does. The reason I say "come on is because when the odometer starts working the dash lights come on.

But theres more to the story... When the dash lights and the speedometer aren't working the car randomly cuts out. The cut out usually starts at about 2500 to 3500 rpm in second gear but also does it in third fourth and fifth. The thing that really gets me bent is that the car only goes about 65 mph when the dash lights dont want to work and I say about because like I said the speedometer doesni work at all.

The thing that is really strange about the problem is that if I push the cluch to the floor for a second when it cuts out the engine will pick back up, but only for a second, then the problem returns.

The only reason I don't replace the dash unit is that it was replaced not more than a year ago.

Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

go to a professional, this seems like something was miswired when the dash was put in, you should get a dealership to do it, but some dealers are asses about the car, if they take more then a week tell them to give you back the car and take it to somewhere else, it took them 2 months for this one dealership to fix my friends headups display
