Hello,

I have an 89 240sx with a SR. I am looking for anyone that knows where to get a custom bracket so I can use the KA SOHC compressor with the SR bracket. I keep hearing that there are people making this bracket but I can not find one.

Thanks!

I couldn't find one either and the shop that did my swap told me they could make one. They then waited until the day I picked it up to tell me they couldn't find/make one I will never use that shop again Just telling you this, bc if you find someone that says they can make one, make sure they really can. Check with Heavy Throttle. Their install guide says it's a simple custom bracket so they might be able to make one and send it your way.

Cody ace has a thread about making custom A/C brackets. Please check it out. It's on page one of this forum right now.

^ :-p Cody doesn't make a SOHC to SR bracket. They are a pain to make. Converting to the SR compressor or a DOHC KA compressor is your best bet OP.

I know this sounds nuts but I've done it several times now take the bracket from your SR and bolted up to the single cam AC bracket one bolt hole will line a up to more of the holes can be drilled and you will need to cram the surface a little bit to make a flat area for the bolts to clampdown on and I usually convert to an allen head bolt for clearance issues for those that want to laugh and dis belief I have between three and four cars out running around with this done to make the AC work

Another option is to just use the SR compressor. The lower of the 2 fittings on the SR compressor is what's incompatible with KA hose, but as long as the SR compressor has its fitting then you can get the misc. A/C bits online to splice the rubber lines together.

Before taking the KA system apart you can get the old refrigerant evacuated for free at most garages because they get paid to recycle it. New aftermarket filter/dryers (i bought a Four Seasons brand) are like $30 and you can get the system properly charged again for about $50. They sell the cans of R134 at any auto parts store but to fill an evacuated system properly you have to pull vacuum on it first, and that's what's tricky. If you have a means to pull vacuum on it at home then you can just get the R134 and do it all yourself.

All these ideas are great guys...however my adapter plates allow for the Do-It-Yourself peeps at any level of experience to bolt on their complete existing A/C compressor with stock bracket (ka-soch/doch) directly to SR or RB enging block. you dont even have to discharge your refrigerent if you just set the compressor with lines off to the side. thats if you havent done your swap yet. SAVE YOUR MONEYand YOUR REFRIGERENT. my friends use the plate and have a few strangers loving the simplicity.

[email protected] for pics or more detailed info.i've performed many-many swaps finally decided to end this delema with this Adapter Plate.

Not to rain on your parade, but aluminum ones I made initially were breaking on the drift and track cars that bought that. I've since converted to steel, and have sold over 100 of them without any issue.
