89 240sx - transmission - help needed

Hi

Problem: Automatic transmission

I have a 1989 Nissan 240sx (auto). While driving on the road, I heard some noise and all of the sudden my transmission (auto) stopped working and the car does not drive anymore.

I can move the auto transmission stick from one gear to another (i.e. drive/neutral/park/reverse) back and forth. However, when I put foot on the gas pedal, the car behaves as if it is in "Neutral" gear all the time (although physically the transmission lever/stick is in "Drive"). As such, the car does not move forward or backward. The engine runs.

I checked the "transmission fluid". It looks fine.

Can someone please help me with this. This is my only car and right now I am stuck with no car to drive to work.

sounds to me as your transmission is no more.. it happend to me in one of my old 240's but i ended up parting it out because i did not want to deal with an expensive transmission swap..

I have a 92 240SX and I am experiencing the same problem exactly. I am at wits end w/ my only vehicle also. I was hoping there would be a way around replacing the transmission.
