'89 240sx

Hello,

I am buying an 89 fastback. Im really excited since its what ive been wanting for a while now. I have a few questions though. What's the difference between the KA24E and the KA24DE? and which models does each come in? is that just single and dual cam? also, the one im buying has a rusted out exhaust so im thinking that it should be the first thing i replace. I wanna do a JDM angled one thats not too loud and keep the cat. what can you recommend?

I highly recommend using the red button in the top right corner of your screen that says search. Engine info can be found in the FAQ and the "What exhaust is best" question has been answered many many times now.

All are about the same hp wise. You don't want anything over a 2.5 exhaust unless you have a turbo. You will need some backpressure. I have an HKS Sport exhaust. It looks stock but the stainless tips are better looking. Nice hp gains too. 89-90 have the single overhead cam engines. They have like 140hp. The 91-94 s-13's have a dual over head cam engine(dohc). DOHC has 154hp. I have both cars and like them equally. I lean a little more towrds the dohc b/c it is a little more efficient engine. More hp too. You better cheak 2 things first. 1 does the timing chain need to be chainged. 2 do the sohc injectors leak. These are very important and costly if something goes wrong. Goodluck.

BS, screw backpressure, you want as little backpressure as possible. But I do agree about how anything over 2.5 inch is unnecessary unless you're helping a turbo breathe. It's just your choice man. How much can your ears stand?
