89 240sx SOHC Transmission DOHC Engine

I read the auto to manual swaps, but I could'ent find any thing that said specifically "this engine will match this trans". I have an 89 240sx hatch, bone stock except for a giant wing that I'm prettys sure was put on right after F&F came out....it was painted canary yellow to match the car so that noone would miss it. The engine has a really bad knock, so a friend of mine with ALOT of swap knowledge says, "hey I have a DOHC engine out of my 96 240, lets just throw that in there problem solved" both cars are manual, but the trans from the 96 isint all that great. I need this car up and running asap (also read "cheap"). My question is can I use my trans and his engine, and if so are there any special steps I have to take? Or are there any other ideas about my situation?

i rock a single slammer transmission... its fine cuz the lower harnesses are the same. GL to ya!

awesome thanks a lot man. How much work did you have to do to get it in? Is it basically a bolt in + the harness or is there other stuff that needs to be done?

i think its direct bolt on... i didnt get to do the actual swap but i know its on there lol! remember there bothe ka's... so they should be the same.... my transmission has 140,000 k on it vs the 40,000 mile ka i got so im seeing issues wit my transmission....but it should work for you. GL!!!
