I got a broken guide or guides that I saw when I replaced my valve cover gasket.So my question is do I have to remove the oil pan?I'm planning on doing this while the engine is in the car.Thanks.

HAVE TO remove oil pan? No

SHOULD YOU? yes in my opinion. The broken parts are down in the pan and should be removed.
