So as u may or may not know. I had the body work done on my 240 about a year ago and never got it painted bc always had other stuff on the top of my "to do list" with the swap and all. So the other day I was looking at 240lookis slammed hatch photoshoot and got inspired by his rattle can paint.

**AND FOR ALL U KIDS THAT ARE SO EAGER TO SAND DOWN YOUR PERFECTLY GOOD FACTORY PAINT JOBS SO YOU CAN GET THAT "STREET" LOOK. PLEASE DONT. THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE PROGRESS OF GETTING BODY WORK DONE OR HAVE OTHER THINGS ON THE TOP OF THERE LIST (ME)**

you can see the over spray best in the bottom pic. still not finished. going to do some more wet sanding and buffing soon. the blue looks a little lighter in the pictures. Wasnt liking the blue at first bc it stands out so much but its kinda grew on me. Now I just need slam it and put new wheels on it (thats the plan)

Looks ricey, I like OEM type colors (not nissan colors from 20 years ago). I just like clean and subtle, that just makes me think hmm too damn cheap for a paintjob or just doesn't care that it looks like a smurf drives it.

very true. i find that i'm a fan of newer mazda and nissan colors. this blue looks like the blue from honda's newer version of the s2k. my last s13 looked like this for a little though. i had a friend mix up paint for me and i learned the hard way that paint looks darker in the can then on the car lol.

You realize when your ready to paint (and use REAL PAINT) its not going to stick very well to that cheap rattle can stuff.. you pretty much just made things harder for when it comes time to use real paint.

a guy on here used this color on his hatch. looked good cuz it was glossy. and he used real paint.

i plan to actually get it painted, this is just temp and the blue is darker in person, that is cell phone pics. i like the oem colors too i just got tired of the grey primer, it always had finger prints, grease, and dirt all over it

Macco isn't bad at all. My friend got his hatch painted a similar blue from macco and it came out looking pretty damn good. Mychal, you should have tried to shell out the cash for some real paint and then sprayed it on there. Like E7-S14 said, you're going to have to do even more prep when you go to paint it again now.

rattle canning is never good if you want a real paint job in the future. Macco would have been better imo.

i came so close to getting a macco job yesterday. untill i saw a car sitting outside that was just painted friday. with runs, orange peel everywhere and the paint even chipping in a few spots.
maccos are privately owned so others might be decent.
but the one over in lanc is horrible. they also talk to you like your a moron.

thats the thing you have to find one, or a place like macco, that has someone that knows what their doing. if you you do some of the prep work yourself that helps alot. talk to the guy thats actually going to be painting your car to see if he actually knows what he's doing. slip him a $50 and it'll turn out great

so add another 50...
my final total for a macco single stage enamel crappy paint job is $701 and some change.
there charging me 300 for paint+100 cause i have to have the front bumper off to spray it cause of intercooler+200 for "deeper sanding" cause of spraypaint on car now will cause the crappy single stage to fall off due to not usig ANY self etching primer.+51 smthin for envirmental costs?+50 for the painter.
idk guys.
i think op got it right by rattle canning it himself for now...
for a lil more than macco crap. you can get a decent bc/cc at a local shop.

yeah $700 is too much. i just saw the advertised price of $250 for single stage but i'd do the sanding and masking the ic myself that would save you $300. im sure it'll be better then rattle can if its prepped and applied right. my rattle canning is really good but a whole car rattle canned will never look really good. you could always just buy the paint yourself and get someone to just spray it

i do have the paint :)
its not that simple. ive been trying to find someone to "just spray it" for months.
and macco said if i did the prep it would void the warrenty... and the bumper HAD to be off... there gay.

ps. if you know someone willing to let me use their garage to paint, let me know. i even have my lil painter suit. just nowhere to do it.

thats why you dont tell em you're gonna paint there, just hang shark skin or something like it to cover the walls and move everything in at night

Too bright for those tails for sure, although would be out of place with the OEM too.

89 should have a pignose. cuz chuki is ugg.

The factory hot red is nice.
