Hello everyone

I bought an 89 240sx this last weekend:ylsuper It has 217,000 miles on it! I think it will be an awesome investment if the motor stays strong.

I’m looking 2 have an auto shop look it over~ have the compression & such checked before I start driving it daily.

I’m wondering if you all have any advice & suggestions for things check out & look for?

----------------------------------------------------------------

I’ve noticed engine parts for the ka24e are pretty darn cheap, should I pick up some engine parts for future maintenance? Like pistons&rods etc?

its an automatic, w/ a new transmission, 11k miles. *It seems to shifts a bit hard, feels like it should be a bit smoother. (the full line pressure control thingy is hooked up btw) idles fine @ around 750rpm.

*there is a slight delay when starting the car; it turns over once or twice before it starts.

Could those causes^^ be because of the faulty /spliced wiring job on the car?

Thanks in advance, :)

the nooB

does the ac work? does it all work. with that kinda mileage i wouldnt be relying that much on the motor. but your case might be different. make sure you check the codes on it. and if it doesnt register any, drive the car for a little while and then check it again.take a look at the suspension bushings, see the condition. the best condition stock 240 that i have seen had cracked bushings. what are the options on it and do they all work.

I would do some general maintainence on it just like I would with any car that I bought. I don't know about the starting delay, mine does it too. It seems that they dont hold fuel in the cylinders for very long.

Hi, tonynalli

what do you mean by check the codes? sorry i'm new to the auto scene in general, but i'm learning. Thanks

my dad mentioned it may need new struts. *I did notice however that when I steer the wheels to the Right i hear a Rubbing sound? what could that be? but when i turned them to the left it doesn't make that sound~ they turn without making a sound. the car was not running, i was turning the wheels to visually inspect the struts. AC works.

Cruise works, lights, gauges all work most everything works except the rear wiper, the driver seat belt door switch. no sunroof motor. Overdrive might not work.

The wires connecting to the e.c.u. have been cut & taped together :\

Body & interior wise it's great shape it appears, no rust Anywhere & its very clean. the motor is very clean.. Too clean i think but so far, it's remaining clean, no oil leaks at least.

thanks guys
