i have a 89 nissan 240 with a KA24E motor. i have been on here to ask questions before and now i have another. History:: i broke an exaust valve so i tore the the motor apart and replaced all 4 put it all back together. Now it will start and run if i keep pumping the gas pedel lighty. to much gas it dies not enough it dies. what the hell is wrong. I'm sure it is something i overlooked, i just need a few more thoughts to see if i can get i back on the road.

The ignition or cam timing may be off.

could it be a fuel filter or a map sensor?

update: new fuel filter installed. the car will start but dies after 3 seconds, unless i tap the accelorator abit. even when i hold it in a bit it only revs to 2500 rpms and goes no higher. i'm thinking it's either vacume line somewhere or an electronic bug somewhere

dont you adjust the throttle, like with a screw driver or something? ive had to do before on one of my trucks. close to the throttle cable, there is a screw or a bolt that you have to tighten, but you do it while your car is on so you can actually tell. i dont know, i just got my 240, so im not sure exactly. but its somewhere along those lines.

Tell us how you fixed your original problem.

Here's how to adjust the idle speed:To adjust the IAA, Fully warm up the motor. Shut motor off. Disconnect the TPS harness connector. Start motor. Check the idle speed. It should read 650 RPM; If not, adjust the idle screw until you get 650 RPM. The idle screw is located on the passenger's side of the motor near the firewall below the intake manifold. Stop the motor. Reconnect the TPS harness connector. Start motor. The idle speed should now be 700 RPM.
