89 240sx high reving(not in a good way)

I currently have my car at the mechanics. i went to test drive it and when i start to hit gas it will rev up pretty high before it starts to really move. He thinks that the throttle body is not the original one but he cant really tell. He also thinks it might be the accel cable is not attaching properly because the pedal is kinda hard to push at first but the its not after it stops revving high. Just wondering if you can help out with this?? oh yeah its an automatic. It almost seems like its not wanting to shift to second

Is the trans slipping? Fluid smell burnt? I would drop the pan.

I'll defiantly check the fluid. I have a feeling it might be that
