:ylsuper I have a 89 240sx whose engine is about to die, I need to replace it, but i want more power. I was looking at turbo kits from xs engineering, but they are only for 95+ engines. So can i manage to put a 95+ engine in the 89 or is there another way? I dont want to do an sr20 cus of smog, but will the ka pass at any rate?

From what I know. The SR swap is the way to go. But the KA24DE is not bad either. Turboing a the DOHC is better than the SOHC. I am looking for a 92 to go with my dail driver 89. Then the fun begins with the KA24DE

there are plenty of guys running turbo single cams, so do a search to find out what they did. If you really want the '95 motor, its the same as the other DOHC motors, the reason the kit is for '95 and up is probably b/c it comes with an intercooler and the piping would be different for each chassis.

by the way, you should probably steer clear of the SR just b/c of the difficulty to find small parts and the fact that you can make more power out of a KA-T with the same amount of money.
