not new to 240sx.org or the forums, and ive checked the faqs. Totally stumped guys as well as the mechanic I took it to. Here we go........about a month ago I hop in my car one saturday morning to go to school, and It would not start(I got it started for a few moments then it died.) After takin my dads car to school I thought that maybe I just havn't been watching the oil as close as i should. So i put a quart in, it was about a quart low, hard to tell on my driveway because where i park its bout a 40 degree downslope. Ive had it not start before, about 5 years ago and all it needed was oil. This time no go. Tried starting it a few times a day after that, and I realized the first crank was gonna be the one that would start monday night, after a fun day at autozone the guy was convinced it was my coil so i bought and put in a new one. well that didn't work so tuesday morning almost calling the tow truck, i gave it another wirl........turned the key and mashed the gas and she started(idoled rough for a few moments then drove it to the shop, and their conclusion was bad injectors(ya i knew they were bad(had the gas smell for about a year or maybe more.) already had at least 2 replaced back when my dad drove it from 96 to 99. so I called the guys at the machine shop in texas from the forum......really nice people, got all 4 of injectors, had the local shop my dad goes to put them in. Good to go until a week later. altanator craps the couch on my way home from school. None of the tell tell sings like dash buzzing and the bat light being on. The 3 times we had the altanator rebuilt that would happen four about a month before it completely died. And i was sick of paying for rebuilds so i bought a warntied one from none other AUTOZONE. Wich thats ok since 4 years without problems. But ya left school that night realizing my lights were really dim then the radio was cutting out so i got off a 2 exits from my house at a gas station to look at my voltmeter my dad put in when the altanator problems started years ago. It died Tried the jump thing made it outa the lot, died then was pushed back in. Left it came back the next day with a new battery to get it to the shop and have another altanator put on free from Autozone. It was done the next day. I couldn't make it up there that day so the next day I drove my moms car up there, paid the guys again got in my car started it and it ran like crap idled between 400 and 500, but i didnt think much about it she acts strange every time she leves the shop. so i reved er up a lil bit, drove her around town went to my work(citgo station) to get gas. started up fine idled fine go home.........2 hours later go to take my mom to her 4-Runner.......dies not a block from my house, does the won't start thing. So we push it to the side of the road, have it towed back to the shop. About 45 min to 1 hour Im droped off at the shop to get my moms car like i was gonna do earlier. So i thought what the hell and try to start my car, and it basically starts right up.......idling like the same **** it was doing. then i shut it off and started it right back up. Called the shop the next day told them why my car was back and what i thought they should check-PVC, AIV, MAF. They said they got it started once then it died right away, Said its got spark and gas. No start. I was actually thinking could it be a pully or a combo of all of them(bad berrings) not allowing it to turn correctly. Cuz i had the pwr sterring pulley replace bout 5 years ago because it was squealling and houling and eventually the belt snaped, and sometime in december my a/c pully seized up so i just cut the belt and went with it..........Sorry about the babble, but im lost and the mechanic is stumped, he thinks it could be a bad computer. I found a performance place that will diagnose it but well ya hard to diagnose it if it doens't run. Anyways sry bout the length of this post. And also anyone in the arkansas area wanna buy it.........its got one lil dent on passanger door. side skirts will cover it right up front air dam has a cut in it, needs a bushing kit and err a motor swap. its an auto, coup, hud works. No bondo on it at all for ya drifters, and bumbers are turning orange. gold with brown interior, k&n filtercharger kit, flowmaster exaust and 8 mm plug wireswell the starter is 2 years old radiator close to a year, and the altanator, coil injectors and plugs all new as off at most 30 days.

im thinking the shop fried my computer. They told me it could be the computer after i had it towed back there. but if it was fried, would it start at all? also the day the guy diagnosed the bad injectors I drove it to work a few hours later and when i put it in park it was idling at about 2000, and when i hit the gas rpm's would drop and almost die.(the first time ive seen that happen) then 8 hours later started right up ran fine.................then injectors and altenator replaced went to ****

if your car is a KA then go to the local junkyard find your year car, and five finger discount yoursefl an ECU, its in the passenger kick panel, ull need a ten, twelve, mil and a phillips head, also download an FSM and itll have ECU diagnosing codes and instructions, the ecu tells you ahets wrong with the car.

Just when i thought the shop had given up completely they called me this morning said it runs. I asked him twice once on the phone and when i got there what was wrong with it and he said it was a bad connection and left it at that. I also noticed that it bogs down when i take off from a light sometimes. I think im gonna take the AIV apart sunday and clean it and see if that helps. well good luck to everyone else with broken 240's

I have no idea which connection it could be, but i would guess to check around the alternator because they had just put a new one in. as far as the bogging down at takeoff, it was the hose that connects the air filter to the AIV. Im guessing the elbo joint k&n gives u for the efi kit was cracked all along and wasnt mixing air right. It completely cracked apart about a week later and would not start again(same sympton). The shop then replaced that piece, adjusted my timing(dont know why they would have to) and cleaned my intake and injectors(i guess they just cleaned the pipeing up to the butterfly valve). but i hope this helps man i know as well as anyone a broken car is as much fun as a rock. Good luck man
