well my clutch isn't getting the car in gear. and the car wont move at all. I was driving it and all the sudden the transmission was in 3rd according to the shifter, but the engine was acting like it was in neutral. turned off the car, tried to start it again, it started, but it wouldn't go in to first the clutch felt like it was just swining not much presure, and no engage point like there was before.

this is my first nissian / 240sx.

what the hell is going on here :D

any ideas/clues/suggestions

and thanks.

if your in gear...for instance 3rd...then i would doubt that its the clutch...otherwise you wouldnt have been in gear...or maybe even stalled...you may have transmission problems.... it may even be a goner my friend...but before you take that opinion wait and see what others have to say...but from what i know...if your clutch was acting up...you would know it....if you can let loose in the clutch and the car just idles in 3rd gear...you may have some issues...

it dosn't go in to gear, the transmission will shift in to every gear, but when you press on the acc, its like its still in netural/like you have a clutch pressed in allthe way, even when your not on it at all and foot hanging out the car.

try it in forth gear. If it wants to move in forth I suspect your spun the key in your counter shaft gear. I have seen this a couple times on the trans in the truck around that same year. If it doesent move even then I would at least pull the trnas out to do a visual on the clutch components. Then tear down the trans for inspection if your dont find anything wrong at the clutch.

it has arround 200,000 miles fyi but engine is great, car is in great condition

looking at it today the clutch moves, and everything in the clutch system seems to be fine. broke it down to the shifter/transmission rails or the trany being broken about what you described. the car just wont go in to any gear at all, it wants to catch 1st and 4th some times, but pretty much none at all, now there were no trany problems at first, so the trany should be fine, but some where between the shifter and the trany could be fun, or inside the trany on more of the shifting section

problem comes when I need that car to be running by the end of this month :(
