89 240sx - Auto transmission Stuck in 3rd??

Help please!!!

I think my auto transmission is stuck in 3rd - it doesn't seem to shift from/to any gears or OD (tested w/ OD on & off).

From a stop, I have to really push it to go, and it feels like the car is in the wrong gear, slow response, etc.

Once I hit the freeway, getting to about 60-70mph it will hit up to about 4000rpm, which is what it should be if I had OD off, but I set OD on (no light).

I will be taking it to the mechanic this afternoon (hopefully I can get out of work) and have them look at it.

Any ideas guys? This just started happening this morning. I didn't drive the car all day yesterday, and before that, it was fine. It was kind of cold, but this is Southern California, never below freezing or anything.

I think the reason is one of two things. One could be that you are losing pressure in the direct pressure area in said gears. Or you could be losing pressure when the fluid gets warm or hot. Either way, looks like it's going to be a trip to the transmission shop.
