89 240sx alt problem

my 240 has had the alt rebuilt 3 times now. the first two times it just quit charging.now it charges about 14.2v @ idle, 17.8v @ 2000rpm at which point it starts acting strange

any takers? im thinking voltage regulator?

also what other alternators will fit the 240? i had a sentra alt , but its a lil different.
