I have a 89 240sx that comes with the active speaker system. I had recently changed the head unit and am about to swap all 4 speakers out (the stocks ones are blown). I just have a couple of questions regarding the active speaker system.

Why do people bypass the amps (pro & cons)? Do i have to bypass them if i want to put new speakers in?Should i use bass blockers with the new speakers? What is the active system to begin with?

Just so you know. I have no intention of putting a sub into the car. Just regular listening.

I tried searching online for answers on these questions and i couldnt find anything.

because its almost 20 yrs old amplifier technology. and if you put your new speakers on it will not have its full potential because of that (don't know 20 watt) amp. active system is just an amplified stock stereo system.

bypass the amps and don't bother using bass blockers especially since you are not doing subs or anything else.
