I decided to purchase some 16 in 4 spoke altima rims to put on my 89 240 SX. From my understanding I may need spacers to stop my front tires from wearing on the strut. Is this true or do I have other options? Will I need longer wheel studs as well? Anybody know?

I don't really see Altima wheels being any wider or higher in offset than stock 240sx wheels. Assuming you plan on running a stock tire size, I don't think you should have any clearance issues.

That being said, a spacer of any thickness greater than 5mm will require longer studs. And even 5mm is being generous.

I didnt think so either. The tires are size 16 and I notice just a little clearance between the tire and the bottom of the strut. I assume anytime I hit a bup or something it scrubs the tire. the struts are new...the 2front tires were new....not sure what to do at this point...

Check the air pressure of the tires and make sure the strut bolts are torqued down properly. With the exception of some heat expansion (especially on generic tires) the tire/wheel is pretty much in a fixed position in relation to the strut.

If the tire does balloon it would do so at the bottom, not the top.
