sup everyone..

my buddy just picked up an 89 240 sx, still KA...

few things we need to figure out about it or need assistance with...

one, it was missing an O ring on the injector bung in the manifold, odviously leaking fuel like a siv. when we took the rail apart we discovered that the #4 cylinders injector has a cracked plastic tip...

--- anybody got a set of used stock injectors they wanna get off the shelf?

--------or a cheap source for 1 new one

2) any tricks to make sure the rail all seals up properly afterwards? we put it back togheter and it was fine for about a week then the #2 injector started to leak from the upper o-ring (in the rail)

next issue... the clutch appears to be leaking fluid, there is no odvious sign of it up top so i'm assuming the slave cylinder probably needs to be replaced? or is there some nasty spot the master cylinder likes to hide its drippings?

next issue... 3 weeks after buying it the starter appeared to blow up. we bump started the car and got it home, but i'm assuming the ring gear on the starter and possibly the flywheel are garbage.

anybody got an old KA with a used starter sitting around under the workshop bench they wanna get rid of cheap? is this what it likely is? when the key is turned it makes a fast cliclicklicklcikclcikcl noise.

once again, whats the cheapest place for new replacement parts if nobody has a used one?

lastly, whats a good cheap motor mount replacement? his mounts @ 124 k are odviously shot.

oh, one more thing... the car idles at 1200-1500 rpms when warm. Idle control valve shot? whatsup...

anyways, lemme know wasup guys i'm gonna be searching a bit too thanks a ton

Just replace that injector. They're not too bad if they're bought in singles. Most people here replace them from 30-50 per injector. The orings can be had for 5 bucks a set of 4. Replace them all while you're swapping the broken injector.

might want to make sure that the seals are on the injectors and then put the rail on top. Use a little bit of gas on the seals so that the rail will slide a bit on the seals of the injectors as you tighten down the rail to press it onto the injectors.

Look around for where the fluid is originating from. If you don't see any around the master, then look around the slave. There should be the hardline to a loop damper, to the rubber hose, to the slave. If you've got leakage around the rod that pushes on the fork, then yeah it's your slave. If it's anywhere else, replace accordingly. Now might actually be a good time to look into pulling out the damper loop. You can buy a stainless steel line from takamotorsports.com or you can just bend your hardline using a line bender and hook up the stock rubber one to the end of it.

The starter, you can ask around in the buy/sell/trade part of the forums. There are a couple people parting out. Actually I might have a starter lying around. Lemmie get back to you on that. Probably sell it pretty cheap too. Shipping is gonna be expensive though. If you're looking for used parts, there's always the junkyard. But if it's a starter, might wanna look into getting a reman since that'll probably last alot longer than just a used one.

The motor mounts, you'd probably be able to find some people selling on ebay. If you're looking for nismo, I'd check courtesyparts.com. They've got the nismo motor mounts cheaper than ebay. It does move the engine up though about an inch.

The high idle, you can adjust the idle by turning the screw located at the back of the intake manifold. There are plenty of posts about how to adjust that.

hmmm, on the idle though, it idles fine when it is cold. then goes up as temp goes up. So i would think if i manually adjusted the idle it would be too low when cold.

we put all new seals in the injectors... i did some research on here though and found out that twisting them after intall can cause the o rings to distort and leak, pretty sure thats whats goin on.

lemme know on the starter, we're gonna need one of those asap and he's broke as a joke so i don't think buying new is an option.

Could be the starter solonoid, it clicks like that when it goes bad or doesn't have enough voltage, I would look at that before replacing the whole starter assembly, I've never heard of one going out on our cars, they turn over so easy

I'll check tonight when I make my 50 mile commute to San Francisco (at San Jose right now for school) and I'll check my buddy's garage. I'm pretty sure we've got 2 spare SOHC starters lying around. If you want it, I'd be willing to let it go for dunno 20 + shipping. That sound ok? You can drop me a line at [email protected] to finish up this stuff.
