i heard that the 89 240 (s13) had a shorter drive shaft than the 92 240, is the 89 240 drive shaft going to be a problem when doing a sr20det red or black top swap?

the only difference that I am aware of is if you have abs or not because the differential is longer in an abs equipped car to accomodate the speed sensor and this requires the driveshaft to be about an inch shorter. as far as I know it should be fine as it all depends on your differential and not the engine

Actually ABS or not, the driveshafts are exactly the same lenght, tested it. My buddies 91 Hicas with my 93 non Hicas.

yeah, the shaft will work even though it is shorter, it works with no problem. when i did my swap into my 89 s13, i actually bump into that problem. of course before i even did the swap, everytime i did a research on the swap, i never read anything about the shaft being shorter, so i figure what the hey! the info i got wasn't in details, everybody says the stock one fit, so i went ahead and use it.

well, if you swap in a diff. from another vehicle such as an infiniti j30 that has abs it does require a shorter driveshaft for a "proper" fit but even then they say you can use the stock one and be alright. it doesnt really make a big difference in these cars since the differential is in a fixed position so the driveshaft doesnt move in and out like on a car with a solid axle.
