89 240 Problem??

Ok guys, here we go. Well I currently own a modded 97 Honda Accord, and I know you all hate Hondas :P, but I am going to buy an 89 240 Fastback from a friend. He repos cars and it was one of his repos. Well when we repoed it, it wouldn't start, so I went out and got a new battery, no luck, replaced fuel pump and the engine runs strong, needs a tuneup but runs strong. I am replacing distributor cap/rotor, fuel filter, oil filter, plugs, wiring, and oil tommorow. Oh and some good-used tires are going on there tommorow, since the onces on there are balder than s***, so all I can do right now is drive up and down the dirt road. Well I have noticed that when I turn out of his driveway and hit the gas, the car stalls but catches and doesn't completely turn off, and then when I get to the end of the road and do a complete turnaround, the car stalls and completely turns off, it will crank right back up, but while turning it stalls. I want this car as a daily driver, so I can't have this! ANY ideas of what this can be, because I want to fix it asap! Thanks guys! :help
