'89 240 coupe xe? not sure..

i know theres info on socal240sx.org and i SHOULD search. but this is more specific and i dont think ill be able to find in a search.

so anyways, i was checking out this car today. its an '89 240 coupe, and i THINK its an XE, but not sure. ive had a hatch before and saw quite a number of different things in the coupe. ill just start naming the specifics of the coupe. power windows, locks, mirrors, HUD not working (along with all interior console lights), flip up sunroof (thought they were power and sliding), no front or rear spoiler, hubs with some stupid "5 lug" caps, map lights ? i think thats what they are. and i cant think of anything else right now. and lights under the dash... courtesy lights ?

im just confused about a few things and would like some straight answers instead. anyway, thanks. and im sorry if i piss off one you guys who are thinking "why dont you just search"

I have an '89 Coupe XE and it has power windows, locks, mirrors and a sliding sunroof, HUD, Hubcaps and no front or rear spoiler. The only real difference I see between yours and mine is the sunroof, which could have been an option the 1st buyer chose to delete and someone put in an aftermarket one at a later date. Oh and I also have map lights and the regular light thats right behind the front seats, but I always thought that the coupes were all XE's

I believe you could get either the flip up roof or the sliding in the XE. Atleast thats what I saw when I looked at an original factory options list.

Anyways, I have the base model coupe, and it has an aftermarket pop-up moonroof. No dome light though...

I thought the pop-up only came stock in the hatches though....

aftermarket pop-up... didnt know they even did that !... i dunnos, we'll see.

It must be an aftermarket one, because the coupes came with electric sliding sunroofs, I'm pretty sure. The fact that I have no dome light is kind of a giveaway too.

OK, where on the roof are the dome lights located in your cars?

ah damn, thats what i forgot to do, take a picture of the sunroof and stuff. ill remember to do that monday/tuesday, when i see the car again.

heres a question for you touchdown, do you have a sunroof cover ? i know the hatch i had did. the coupe i saw didnt seem like it did.

Nope, no cover, just glass. It's mirror tinted on top too, which leads me to believe even more than the previous owner had one put in.

hmm, so what do you do if you dont want the sun to come through the sunroof ? in my hatch i would just put the cover... but now i dont have the option to...

Just kidding, the sun's always coming in. I dunno why you wouldn't want it to though...

i have an 89 fastback hatch with tinted sunroof and the sun isn't a big deal with it... the tint is like little circles of black paint, not really "tint"

Easiest way is to look at registration or look up the vin# on carfax or something.

Anyhow, my s13 coupe that I sold came with no front/rear spoiler, power windows, lock, dome light/map light, hud, no sun/moonroof, and power mirrors.

And my new fastback comes with no front spoiler, rear spoiler, power windows, power lumbar seats, cd/tape deck, System 10 speaker system w/ stock amp, moonroof, power mirrors, and all wheel drive. :ylsuper

my dome light that doesnt work when i put it on the 'on' position, although i have maplights i guess. i also have no insulation... feels weird.

That looks VERY similar to the moonroof that I have. I dunno about what kind though...

If the coupe has a popup sunroof, then its definitely an add on. Coupes came with power roofs and hatches have popup/removable sunroofs.

the only thing i looked forward to when getting the coupe was the power sunroof which my hatch didnt have... now i have a pop up sunroof again -_-...

oh damn sun... today it was beaming right down on me ! at least with my hatch it had those funny black things like tint that Poatree was talking about. i need to make some sort of cover... its so HOT !!!
