89 240 auto transmission gasket?

My auto transmission oil and filter is due. When I put the new gasket, do I put silicon on the cork gasket?? Or do I just let it sit there and screw the pan back??.. reminder its a cork gasket not a rubber.. THANKS IN ADVANCE
