Im installing a 94 j30 vlsd on my s13 and I started with swapping out the axles. when I tightened down the big bolt at the end (before the adjusting cap) I noticed the the axle no longer spun freely, its real hard to turn and even gets stuck. I looked at it from behind the knuckle and it seems like the axles is scraping against the knuckle. its almost as if Im missing a bearing or something to keep the axle from rubbing... but I didnt see anything fall out when I took out either axles (the ones from the j30 or the ones from the 240) so do you guys know if Im missing anything? or possibly Im doing this in the wrong order and if I were to bolt up the diff, then the axles to the diff... it would sort of hold the axle and keep it from rubbing when I finally put in the big bolt at the end? what am I doing wrong?

Interesting, i would try putting the axles in position first (in the wheel bearings) and then bolting the diff up.

sorry to bring back an old post but just in case someone is searching for the same problem...I lossened up the axles but left them in place, bolted up the diff and then the axles to it and finally the big bolt at the end and everything worked fine
