ive seen a few people running apexi and cometic gaskets that are 88mm with no problems

i dont see why you would if you're staying with the 86mm bore, but its not impossible, to my knowledge

Got this SR a couple of months ago and now I have the time and some money to get it running so I'm doing the normal rebuilt stuff so just checking my options. I do have ARP head studs and checked the block and head and they both pretty straight so I don't know if metal gasket is the better choice, I do like doing stuff right the first time. I just wish I had the money for a complete bottom end built. Thanks for the info

i'm sure others have used oversized gaskets before but I'm not going to do it again. Read my thread about the radiator hose blowing off. After it was all done, this is what happened to mine with an 88mm cametic. I'm not saying that the head gasket made it happen, it just didn' t help the situation any.
