88 z31 turbo digital speedometer

Hi guys, just picked up an 88 300zx turbo. car is sweeeeet. can anybody help with an intermittent(sp?) speedometer failure on the digital dash. It works about 50% of the time; speed reads out one second the next it is at zero. From research between forums(here and z31) all the discussion is about complete failure. Mine is not that case. looks like a bad connection some where, everything else is working fine.

my direct question is: has anybody suffered from this? and if so how did you fix it?

I have been thumbing through the "Haynes Repair Manual" 300zx 84 - 89 all models, and cannot find anything on this either. I might just be overlooing something.... was never really good in school:ylsuper

by the way my car looks exactly like the one on the cover.... well it use to anyway.... 2-3 months it will again!
