So I came home with my first 240SX yesterday. 1989 nissan 240sx

It *DID* run pretty good. Chirped the tires in three gears on the test drive, welded diff is a bit scary to drive in the rain... The electrical is a total basket case but it works. got to within a block of home (20 miles or so), and BOOM! radiator overflow blew it's contents all over the engine bay, and I limped home, stalled & apparently overheated (Can't tell what the gauge reads 'cause the gauges don't work)

Now the motor turns over REALLY easy, and doesn't even try to start... like maybe there's no compression :( Maybe jumped time? Maybe totally blown head gasket? Hmm. Have not put the compression tester on it yet. Afraid of what I might find out.

So, if I got $500 where is as is (Evansville, IN) I'd take it, as I was really planning on not rebuilding an engine as part of this project. Can deliver for $0.50 mile. Might not be as bad as I made it sound, either. I have a signed title, and the plates are current. Really not a terrible deal as it sits.

OR If I'm going to fix it, I really can't get to it for a couple months as I've got another project in line ahead of it...

Alternatively, if you're local and want to fix this car to run on the BABE and/or as a Crapcan road racer (Chumpcar/Lemons) let me know and we might be able to work out a special deal.

Are you asking for advice or trying to sell the car? Cause if it's the latter, I'm gonna need you to take it to the classifieds

Compression test it first. I bet you know someone who owns a tester/they are $30.

If the Compression is good then get a dual core alu radiator and get this thing going.

If you think you will spend over $1000 into the motor, don't, Consider a swap or another S14 DE.

RB20det swaps are about $1100 nowadays.

Will do - I think I have a compression tester - but am having issues figuring out where I put it (haven't touched it in about 6 years, and that was a garage ago). Will find, borrow, steal, or otherwise acquire one.

I have something of an ulterior motive offering to sell the car, since, if I *CAN'T* sell this car for $500, that only serves to establish that it is clearly a sub $500 car, right? :-)
I need to collect evidence that this car is indeed worth less than $500 in order to race it without penalty in Lemons and Chumpcar.

Having said that, I really will give it to anyone to show up with $500. (I know, such statements belong in the classifieds)

Ok well untill somebody know's what their getting nobody will pay jack for it lol. Put a compression tester on here and post up the results then we can tell you some advice as to what to do. Clearly something bad is going on if it blew the overflow on the radiator...

Did it smoke any or have any odd smell while you were driving it??
