88 turbo z tps question

is it a switch or a potentiometer sensor? because i was inspecting my wiring today and found that the tps on my car only has 2 wires coming out of it, the third is cut. this leads me to beleive that the previous owner swapped out the tps (im guessing it came stock with a sensor) and was just running it at open or close... bah, just dug into this car and found a whole mess of wiring crap

bumpity, still cant find the answer after looking at several different wiring diagrams
