88 Supra Turbo for $50

My friend just bought an 88 Supra Turbo for $2000 (used dealership) a few months ago. After driving for a week, the engine caught on fire. He sued the dealership but didn't get shiet. So he is selling his Supra for $50. I want to buy it, but don't know the cost to replace the engine and converting it to a manual. Any input on this would be great. Thanks

DAAAAAAMN, that sucks for him, but you better buy that mother, as long as there isn't any damage to it. You can get J Spec 7M-GTE's like my buddy did for like $550. Shouldn't be too difficult to go from auto to manual. Check out supraforums.com they should be able to help you out.

If you lived close to me, I'd probably buy the damn thing, if nothing else, just to swap the jspec engine in and sell it, but I probably wouldn't, my friends MKIII hauls ***! And hes only thrown about $1000 at it.

the 7m-gte's with the ct-26 turbo are great engines man. definitly worth it. as for the auto to manual, shouldnt be too bad. for 50 bucks? hell id go for it, just for the turbo and the plumbing if nothing else......also there are tons of places u can buy front clips for. 7m-gte's arent too hard to come by. the 2j-gte from the 93 and up supras are expensive, but not the engine ur lookin for....

So the engine gonna cost around $600 huh. I guess I cant go wrong buying this car then. I'll probably have it tow back here by the end of this week. Ill keep you guys updated.

you can get a MKIII 1JZ-GTE for less than $2000 if you look around.

I kinda feel bad for the guy. He had a Chevy Citation that just gave up on him so he work his *** off to buy this Supra. Next thing you know engine caught on fire. I really feel sorry for him, I hope some guy buys it for a higher price for it since he needs the money for school. But if not, Ill get it at the end of the week for $50 hehe. BTW it has all the options and a targa top too.

Hey just to let you guys know, I got the supra towed back to my sister's house (my mom hates raggedy car laying around the house). The car is dark blue automatic targa top and a dent muffler from towing. I think its gonna be at my sister's house for a while since Im about to do my SR swap (when Daunttless open up his shop that is).
