ok, im at work and sorta stumped on this one. its a ca18de nx, with a no start condition. car is getting fuel, its getting good spark but still doesnt run.

customer says was sitting for a while while his daughter was at college. we put new fuel in the car, and im assuming the injectors arent clogged as the plugs are wet with fuel.

I'm thinking its a timing issue, but i dont know too much about CA's.I've been trying to get in touch with the customer, to find out if the timing belt has been replaced recentlly or anything having to do with the timing has been done recently.

Does anyone have any insights as to why the car wont run?

what smells, vibrations, movements or anything DOES it do when you try to crank it?

could be issue with ignition, maf, starter, clutch micro switch.......

could be issue with igniter pack or the drop in resistor.......

little more info makes it easier to diagnose.

ps Isnt it wonderful how mechanics have access to the net..... and all the solutions to every possible solution.

it cranks fine (starter is fine) , on occasion ill get a pop like one cylander firest (it could be that the spark event is eventually lighting the mix), but not when its supposed to..., smells like gas, there is no clutch, the system is coil on plug. i would imagine the car should run without the maf- the 240 wqill run with the maf unplugged (though rather poorly), but thats a totally different ignition system...

I would check the drop in resistor. assuming it is like the DET the injectors are low IMPEDIENCE and maybe getting too much power.

Then the next step would be to check the Igniter.......

might check to see if the coil packs are properly grounded and havent come loose.... it happens.

I doubt that all of the coil packs are bad...... but who knows.

Pulsars have high impedence injectors so there is no dropping resister. I just removed the engine from the one at my house a few weeks back to steal the trans and wiring harness.

Change the plugs and make sure there is enough battery power because these systems are voltage hungry.

My money's on a bad ignitor.
