Does anyone out there have ANY information about different possible engine swaps for the 86-89 Nissan 300zx? I've searched and searched and still cant come up with much. Also, are there any companies that have pages showing the car with engine? Thanx

You could put in an SR20 if you think going from 3.0 to 2.0 is an upgrade. :)

ease up a bit guy.... the JDM craze has gotten the best of you. Swapping an engine doesn't always mean it's better, much less the best expenditure of your money.

Your engine will hold over 400hp. Now, would you rather put about $1500 into making it get there, or pay $2k to do an "engine swap" which would possibly even have a net hp under what you already have?

Now...as for what can you put in.. anything you want. If you have the wallet, there's a way. There's been 350's, and more put in these cars.

And don't remember that while one guy is obsessed with being the first to do something, there's millions that are smart enough to know very well why nobody's done it before.

I've seen footage of a Z31 with a Chevy 350 in it.....

ya - stay w/ the VG - for the same money a shop would charge you for a SR and the install into a 240 (say $4-5000 for engine + install) u can make the Z31 a 400hp monster. Hell, i have a friend w/ $2500 invested in his VG and he runs 12.7. I think the Z cars are the forgotten performers. On the other hand, I would like more info on a V8 swap - just for entertainment's sake.

one option is the JDM VG30DET. single turbo, dual cam. came in 88 and 89 first gen 300zx's. that'd be pretty nice. also, there was a guy a while back that put turbo heads on a pathfinder VG33E block and went that route. he was making over 450RWHP and more torque even.

RB30ET is an easy swap. Check out Z31.com for more info.

As far as the 300z/ 350 chevy thing goes, Z-Doc in Tampa has one for sale for 4000.00. It's a crappy looking '87 with a red suede paint job. Engine swap is not pretty but everything is there. Lots of room for the engine- plugs easy to get at, etc. His price is high for the car, but it could be cleaned up. I didn't drive it. The guy has a good reputation for honesty, so give him a call.
