88 Nissan 300sx (z31) swap

Though i have very few posts ever made, i am a constant reader of the forums, and before i ask this question, i will state that yes i have used the red search button and tried just about every combination in hope that i can find the answer. Does anyone know if the rb20det will swap into the 86-89 Nissan 300zx. If so, where can i get some information about. are there any companies who have successfully done it, or kits, or ANYTHING. Thanx

Actually, do a search on google for a 200ZR. fUnny you should mention it as this was an actual factory option for the 300zx in japan. http://saboten.sakura.ne.jp/~r...3.htm check out that link. should be of some use to you!

Yes... this is a sick car... and should be a very direct swap. If you would like I could talk to my contacts about getting a RB20DET Z31 front clip. I'm planning this swap sometime after I do another rb20 S13 swap.

thank you both very much, your information has been very helpful. Also, if i can find a front clip from the actual z31, it should have everything i need for the install correct? or, can i just use the r32 clip?

I beleive you'll need the Z31 clip as the front crossmembers between the 300zx and skyline do not interchange. and teh eninge mounts are welded to the front crossmember. but, the skyline engine is the better of the two from the factory. so, kind ofa tough call. now, if you could find someone to custom make some mounts for you, get the skyline clip!

I agree... If i'm not mistaken the Z31's rb was a red top RB20... which are kind of crappy. Definitely want a silver top...
