87 Turbo how to tell if LSD

Hey guys. I was going threw the junkyard the other week and I came across a 1987 300zx turbo. I remember reading from my older days that only some 87 and 88 cars got a limited slip. So that being said how is the easy way to tell. I am guessing to use the method of turning the wheels as they both should go forward as an open diff will spin the opposite way. May go back for the turbo for my Miata as I have though of putting a turbo on it and I could check the diff.

That also being said what do these normally sell for. Being jobless it would be worth a flip since I have some spare time and need to pay the bills.

It's even easier on the Z31, stick your head under the back end and look at the diff cover, if it;'s smooth it's an open diff if it has large fins covering it it'a LSD. I believe a manufacture date of 4/87 or after should have the LSD but only on the "C" code cars. Often people will do a turbo swap on a non turbo car, that 4th digit int he vin tells you it is a factory turbo, "JN1CZ" anything else didnt come with a turbo.

Alright that will make it easy. The car was untouched. So going back today to look at the diff as they seem to be worth about $600+. If it has lsd I'm going to pull and it and list it for sale. Will help someone around here. Maybe some of my lechump guys with a z31. Either way it will help pay rent next month.

First one I had I stumbled upon in the crush pile at the scrap yard, $150 and they pulled it, WIN!

well went back and found an open diff. Smooth case and a build date of 9/86. Oh well maybe Ill get the turbo for the miata.
