I HAVE AN 87 NISSAN SENTRA 2.3 4-CYL. AND WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IT TOPS OUT AT 40 MPH. IF IT IS PARKED AND YOU PUSH THE ACCELERATOR A QUARTER OF THE WAY DOWN IT KICKS IN THE REV LIMITER. I WAS TRYING TO SEE IF THERE WAS A WAY FOR ME TO DO AWAY WITH THE LIMITER AND EVEN MORE, WHERE IT IS... THANX

First of all you should buy a newer car. I don't care what it is. Seriously though, I had an 86 nissan truck and it topped out at 64 mph. I was told it was an o2 sensor, but when I got it replaced it didn't help. Moral of the story is: After 2 months of ****in' with it i bought a different car. You should do the same.

I think the least of your concerns is removing the rev limiter.

Is the transmission topping out or is it just not revving past a certain point while in gear? If it's the former, I don't even know how to begin to address other than tough luck. If it's the latter, try the simple stuff - clean the filters and injectors. It may just be unable to breath.

It has mostly new filters and the transmission is fine but thee engine itself is toping out when you push the accelerator.....you know what, I didn't even think to check the fuel filter and I started out thinking it was a fuel problem....I'll go try that....

EEH? '87 Sentras came with a E16, 1.6 liter engine-not a 2.3L. Auto or stick? EFI or carb? Runs smooth or is stumbling? Straining or running easy? Questions, questions! With answers to these questions comes enlightenment for those that may be able to help you.
