HiI have a 87 sentra coupe (us version) and am curious about what does the red 'light' lighted symbol left of the steering column indicate or mean?Thanks in advance

It's been awhile since I've seen one of those but it could mean that one of the taillights is out or that one of the brake lights is out. It will come on if brakes are applied or on if the taillamps are on. Some had alittle computer box on the rt.or lt. taillamp assemblies that would check for bulbs being out on the rear and turning the warning on tha dash on.

my 87 did the same thing with that light , my 3rd brake light didnt light up and i think it tripped the warning light , i never did get that damned 3rd brake light to work , dont know how much time i spent on it , coarse i was 16 too
