87 or 93 octane in 1989 240sx KA24E SOHC

i was wondering if itd be better to run normal 87 or premium 93 octane in the car , ive heard both stories , askin the nico guys fer some help...what do you guys think?

The SOHC can use 87. Use 87, higher octane gas when it's not needed = waste of money.

to add:

u can use a tad bit higher octane if U notice some "pinging" (the SOHC engines/ KA24E of 1989-1990 vintage doesn't come w/ Knock Sensors)

because it's mostly due to carbon buildup of the combustion chambers & this would be a temporary "bandaid" to avoid the pinging. of course, using higher octane than needed would contribute to the carbon buildup/ if u didn't need it in the 1st place...

search Seafoam to remove this carbon crap & get back to using 87 octane!
