Off the record I though I would ask my boys here on NICO

The wife's Dodge Nitro takes 89 octane and we fill up all the time at COSTCO which does not have the 89 go figure. Probley for reasons who know.

Can I mix 87 and 91 to make 89 with no issues or am I missing something??

Pain in the butt to do because I have to run the cards twice but worth saving a few bucks a fill up.

Yup thats what gas stations do to make 89 octane. They only get 87 and 91 shipped to them.

Hah thats the first car I've heard of taking the mid grade

Well the wifees truck is a Dodge Nitro R/T 4X4 and the owners manual says 89This is a 4.0 liter V6

So who knows. I dont know why it needs 89 I just know from previous owners it does get good gas mileage on regular 87 just like our Q's dont run good on it either.
