Truck has new starter, distributor cap, plugs, HT wires, battery. Fuel pressure is on spec. When humidity is high sometimes will not start although has spark and fuel. New distributor cap seems to cure problem for a time and then (within 6 months) problem re-appears. When it won't start, if you put a timing light on #1 it appears it is not firing at the correct point although it does show spark. It has been into the local Toyota dealer (no Nissan dealer within one hour drive) and their top trouble shooter replaced the cap again to cure the problem. I'm convinced the caps are being carbon tracked over time (although I can't see physical evidence inside cap) due to ignition firing problem. I'm about to replace the ignitor which appears very rusty but at this point I'm just throwing parts at it. I need help.

Yes, I replaced the rotor. Did all the usual checks on the "ignitor" and everything checked out but I was still suspicious of it. When I finally found one at the wreckers and pulled the old one off, you're right 180fan, two cracks on either side of the HT tower near the base. You couldn't see them until the coil was out. It runs like new now. I can't believe the hot shot trouble shooters couldn't pick that up on their analyzers.
