the stock intake manifold for a 300zx turbo is said to be one of the most restrictive part of the engine. i was wondering if any one knew where i can get a aftermarket intake for my car. i also wanted to relocate the throttle body to the front of the manifold or to the rear left so that i can make intercooler pipe fit easier...

the maxima or pathfinder intakes can be made to work but both come with their own set of issues, there used to be a guy engloid? IIRC that gutted stock plenums, of course you could have a local fab shop do this for you, but when dealing with turbo cars, these things make reletively little gain, if you want more power, a larger turbo with fuel to match is the best bang for the buck, granted these add on items can allow you to get the most out of what you have people tend to expect them to do more than they actually do

Indeed, mostly a gutted plenum or sheet metal intake will really only help you out with the higher HP levels. If it is down around OEM HP levels you will see very minimal gains, maybe 10 hp maximum. However if you are making 600whp with a stock manifold and then you jump to a gutted or a sheet metal intake manifold, you may see 50 or more HP gain just from the loss of restriction at those air flow levels.

well i tried the link to z31performance and it said it didnt exist so .......my car is stock as of now but im taking high performance welding as my next class here in college and i figured that i could make one for my z and be done cheap but also good.but if i could buy one for relativly cheap then my plan was on making another manifold to make my z twin turbo....that would be ****ing amazing....but as for the bigger turbo no...i was going to keep the kompressor head of the turbo so i still have the quick turbo spool and put a t4 exaust side on ......(sounds reasonable)and the standalone thats not untill later down the road when i can get dyno time at school.

You should probably buy the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. The exhaust side is what determines how fast the turbo will spool.

yeah it sounds like you got your turbo theory backwards, and don't be so excited about ding a twin turbo setup, it will double the cost but not the power, you can make as much power with a single large turbo as 2 smaller ones, it has more to do with lbs/min and the peak efficiency of the turbo, but without managment and fuel you need to stick to the stock turbo

Sorry man. Normally the manifolds I sell go for about 700+ dollars. I was selling this one for $350, so it was only for sale for about 20 minutes before I had money in my paypal account.
