On my '86 w/a 2.4I....Under my hood, the sticker says 5* BTDC.  I saw a manual for a '89 and it said 10* BTDC (at this forum, under "Service Manuals").  My engine is the same, I think, as that.

It definitely likes 10 better than 5, when idling.  I have not driven it yet.

What should it be? I'm at 4,500'.

Idling won't give you the accurate setting, engine needs to be under load (pulling a hill at 50%+ throttle).

My guess is 5* will give a bit of predetonation, so the sweet spot is likely somewhere in the middle. Split the difference and give 'er a rip!
