86.5 D21 5 speed Transmission trouble

I have a 1986.5 Nissan D21 with a 5 speed manual transmission that I recently purchased. Every time that I am in 3rd gear and I let the car decelerate in gear it pops out of gear. It is fine when under load but when my foot lifts off of the gas it pops out. I have also noticed that when I put it in first gear that it pops out unless I immediately give it gas and let the clutch out. Fifth gear also seems to not hold so good either?

Sounds like it could be worn detent balls in the shift control section.
