My 86 n/a has new plugs (proper NGK's), wires, cyl head temp switch and a tested good idle air valve. All these parts were replaced to hopefully correct a cold start "no fast idle" problem. Starts right up, idles very low 400 to 600 rpm. Feather the throttle to drive 3 blocks, then it runs great the rest of the day. The idle air valve air door is wide open cold like it should be and closed in 5 min. The exhaust smells a little rich when cold as I would expect because there is no fast idle. Besides the air valve and the fuel temp switch what enables the fast idle? I have the factory service manual and have overhauled/rebuilt cars for many years. I dont understand why, with the idle valve open, there is no fast idle. Timing is at 20 degrees, engine temp normal (new Nissan thermostat) 133k miles. What am I overlooking. Last winter with air temp in the 50's I had fast idle, in summer with outside temp at 60 to 70 degrees in the morning, no fast idle?
