Not to be mean but the reason you cant find it, its because there is no air bag on a 86 300zx, i know this because i have the 300zx 86 service manual and no mention of airbag and also i have a 85 300zx fully loaded and no airbag ! You can get the service manual on this web site!

lol, airbags weren't on z cars untill 1990, even then you aren't likely to trip the sensor working ont he car unless you drill a hole in the sensor or hit it directly wiht a hammer

86 already came with foglights. they're right next to the headlights.

I'm going to have to guess you have a digital dash? If so, that's the exterior air temp sensor. If not, you're going to have to post a picture of it.

Download an owners manual from xenonz31.com and read it. Also would have helped if you had read the Haynes manual about the lights.

Exterior air temp sensor is for auto climate control, not digi dash evildky. But yes, that's probably it.

I have to assume that comment was directed at me, since evildky didn't mention anything about it.

You are correct. The temp sensor only reads out on the auto climate control display.

BUT...

Since he has a 1986 model, it's easier to ask if he's got a digital dash than automatic climate control. For the 1984 to 1986 models, the Digital package included the auto climate control and digital cluster together. Once they got to 1987, the digital dash was an option for the GLL models (those got the auto climate control).
