hi guys.

First time poster on the forums.
Bought a 1985 v6 non turbo z31 about 7 months ago
ago. When I bought her off a friend she didn't idle( would cough, spluttered then die), if u tried to accelerate just dies instantly. My first though was it sat for a while some new fuel will help her out.
Same problem. Won't idle or rev up just dies.
So I went for air flow meter. Second hand. Same problem. But tried 3 different all same reaction.

So I went nuts here and got..
-Plugs
-Leads
-Coil

Now she will rev up to 4000. But hard to start still coughs and splutters and won't idle.
Gonna start playing with injection soon as no idea to whats crappenin in there..
Any help from anyone on this at all?

Step one is check the ecu for codes. More details are also helpful, if you are int he north and it's 20 degrees outside it could point to something different than if you are in Key West at 80 degrees. Also check for vac leaks.

Cheers man. Will start that today. As for vacation leaks I also replaced the vacuum booster as 2pipes had split there is a black w\ red trace vac line that runs inside I just blocked off as hose broke inside.
Could this be a problem.?

Ok so.
Drained the tank today and replaced fuel filter is only firing on 4 not 6 cylinder.
Playing some more with ignition timing and possible injectors wiring harness. Looking better but still not ace.
Thanks evil.
Thanks

Plugs? wires? in the right order on the cap? they don't go on in firing order they are labeled at the cap.

Yeah played with dizzy now running a bit sweeter again but only 4 not 6 still.
Gonna hook it to an injector clean system through the week and hopefully that helps it some more.
And cheers man I will keep my eye on it. Because if this don't work I will be looking at exactly that. The wires and plugs. Looks like prev owner did a cut and shut with some other injector plugs. Mabey time to wiggle them.

The injector campaign rewired the injectors so the wiring work you see might be a result of that. A noid light or tester can verify the signal to the injector and you can ohm the injectors. First step would be to isolate the bad cylinders which you can do by pulling the plug wires as it idles. it's got to be spark fuel or compression.
